Meet the Artistic Director & Founder of

The Dance House Napa Valley and Walnut Creek.

Born a fourth generation San Franciscan, raised in Walnut Creek, Alex Blitstein is an internationally acclaimed and award winning choreographer and dance educator whose career spans movie sets, world tours, and stages around the world. With a BFA in Dance and Science, Alex has earned global recognition for his groundbreaking work in the performing arts, creative producing and choreography.

His diverse credits include performances and choreography for Jennifer Lopez, Glee, Jessica Sanchez, Disney Channel, America’s Got Talent, FIAT, Estée Lauder, and more. Alex has been on faculty for top dance conventions such as Titans of Dance, 24Seven, Jump, Nuvo, and Hollywood Connection, collectively reaching over 300,000 dancers annually. His expertise also extends into the world of collegiate and professional sports, where he serves as a choreographer, judge, and talent evaluator for the NBA and NFL.

In 2018, Alex founded The Dance House Napa Valley, which he continues to proudly own and operate. In 2024, he invented and launched The Dance Map, an adaptive and inclusive training tool for young dancers that is now used worldwide.

A passionate advocate for dance in higher education, Alex has choreographed and taught for professional companies, universities, Broadway Dance Center, and Debbie Allen Dance Academy. One of the highlights of Alex’s career was being invited to perform and choreograph the opening number for TRUTH 365, the Emmy Award-Winning grass-roots documentary film and social media campaign that gives a voice to all children fighting all forms of cancer. His commitment to mentorship, innovation, and excellence continues to inspire dancers all over the globe, across every level of the industry.

A Note from the Owner:

Being raised in Walnut Creek, bringing my love and passion for the arts back to my hometown has been a lifelong dream. Opening The Dance House minutes from where I grew up feels like coming full circle, sharing the passion for performing arts where my own journey began.

My first location in Napa Valley that was established in 2018 and serves countless areas in and around the North Bay has proven that the culture behind our mission creates more than just strong dancers, it builds strong communities. The Dance House is rooted in the belief that dance is a universal language, one that everyone should have the opportunity to experience.

As Joe Tremaine once said, “Dance training is life training.” I carry that with me every day, filled with gratitude for the life I’ve lived traveling the world doing what I love. I chose the name, “The Dance House” because a house becomes a home when you are able to dance, dream and discover in it.
